Horror poster evaluation

The Outbreak- Horror Poster Evaluation

Before

After

Although the task was to take and edit a picture ourselves, our original image and poster was lost as I stupidly saved something else over it and ended up losing it, so rather then waiting till Monday to re-get the image we took in class, we decided to just make one using a image from the internet.

I personally feel that the poster went well, we were able to manipulate a picture to point where it now has a completely different meaning, we changed a picture that was bright and pretty much normal to something dark and out of the ordinary.

The first thing I did was add some cracks to his face to give more of a ripped and broken skin effect, at the same time I edited the colour levels to help make his skin tone more tanned to help give a more "dead" look to the person, while doing this I added in some black tint to help fade the image into the black background.

Step two for me was the eyes, in the original photo his eyes were a expected and common colour which for me had to change, firstly I went over his pupil in a dark red colour and changed to blend to overlay to make it seem more realistic and give a more "evil" vibe to the image because when I see someone or something with red eyes I mainly think of characters like the devil. I also touched up the white sections around the red to help stand out his pupils

Evaluation for my "nemo" video

                Evaluation for my "Nemo" video

Although our continuity was done well, the location in which we picked to record let us down greatly as we picked up a lot of background music, such as rain, traffic and people passing by. The constant change of camera angles meant that the volume of the conversation kept changing, this is expected and hard to control.

We opened up the recording with an establishing shot ( high angled wide shot) which was great, because it meant that the people watching got an idea for what was going on and who the conversation would be between, we also kept a good and correct use of the 180 degree rule as we changed to over the shoulder shot for each time someone spoke ( over Daniels shoulder when Hasnat spoke and vice versa)

Chaning the audio

We had to change the audio in certain clips to change the meaning of the video, for example changing the theme tune on the Inbetweeners to the theme tune from Friends gives a completely different impression and meaning to the show.

I changed the theme tune of Fresh Meat....

Straight cuts- These fit in well with the movie scene as they are used when the clip its self speeds up to help build tension.

Slow motion- Slow motion was used a few times during to scene but, I personally feel that the first time had the most meaning as it showed the strength and force both opponents were using with each punch, this helps to emphasise the hatred they have for each other.

Reverse cutting- This was used to show the conversation between Mike and Case, during this section of the scene only Mike and Case were shown which shows the importance of the conversation. It also shows us how mike had been tricking his opponent all along to get the advantage.

This picture is from the movie fast and the furious 5 and is from the scene/ part of the movie
where they are trying to find a car fast enough to make it past the police cameras without
being spotted.

The lighting is primarily focused on the middle section of the picture (the actors), I feel this helps to
emphasize the look on the characters faces, the expressions make it look as though the atmosphere is
serious and intense.

On the table is some high tech computers which gives me the idea that the job that they are about to
pull off is not going to be an easy or simple job, the reason for this is because this is the type of machinery  that people in high ranked forces (such as the army) use.

The episode begins with one of the main characters Gale, doing his normal night regime of making a tea, followed by listening to music. Because of the past scene the audience already have a rough idea of what is happening, but because of the type of person Jesse ( Aaron Paul ) is and the scenario that Walt ( Bryan Cranston ) was in, no one knows if Jesse has the guts to even carry out the set plan.

We are able to hear and see the phone ringing but the fact that he cant, gives a sort of tension to the audience. It gives us the idea of involvement as we want to advise Gale to shut off the music and answer the mobile phone.

Gales informal / casual clothing suggests that he a typical nonthreatening sort of person, it also gives the idea that he does not deserve have his life taken.

The specific angle placement  for the camera, capture the expression of suffering and panic in both Jesse and Gale. The dark light allows the viewer to get more of a understanding and feel to the situation because the dark light and darkness links into the fact a murder is about to be committed.

From gathering results from the survey, I found out that people prefer visual media over audio; so people prefer watching TV and looking on the internet rather than listening to the radio. I also found out that people have a lot of access to the media on a large variety of different devices. This is because of today’s technology, it allows us to keep up to date with the media wherever we are.

Finally the survey tells us that a lot of people spend a large amount of their time browsing, listening or watching different types of media.
